Rumi Rêvé grew up in Minneapolis, MN under the black willow trees, surrounded by 10,000 lakes. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Visualization from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, a foundation that opened the door to creative and logistical positions in TV and film production in Los Angeles, CA. The next phase of her life had her wandering and wondering her way around the world, from Sydney, Australia to Honolulu, HI, and a few places in between. In time, a serious autoimmune condition would sidetrack her life.  In the quiet aftermath of this diagnosis emerged something profound: a talent for painting that revealed itself as an undeniable calling. She fully surrendered to this awakening, reshaping her life around the creative force that had long been waiting for her.

Her work is widely recognized for its evocative fusion of expressive mark-making and atmospheric, otherworldly realms. Fans often note her ability to portray animals as symbols of love in form. In her own words, “Animals become messengers of belonging, reflecting our ancient bond with the wild.” Rumi begins each piece with a layered mixed-media foundation, ultimately finishing every painting in oil to achieve what she describes as “the purest, juiciest color possible.” Her imagery becomes a remembrance on belonging, spirit, and the resonance of love.

Rumi’s current studio is an expansive loft in a converted tire factory in downtown Denver. Bathed in natural light pouring in through an 18-foot greenhouse roof, the space offers sweeping views of the city and the distant Rockies. She creates alongside her three cats, and large fluffy dog who has claimed a ceremonial spot near her easel. Rumi’s present focus is exploring the thresholds where our inner world and cosmic memory converge. She remains devoted to illuminating the love that binds all beings, creating works that act as portals into the deeper architecture of our shared existence.
